Honestly, I don't usually play a game at all. No, like other people,
I used
to have been hooked it. Once I started a one game,it interfered
with
everyday activities. I'm basically a kind of Otaku.
I must play all over a game, thoroughly master it.
When I had play FF5,exp level was hundred-millions place at level
99.
hundred-millions place?
No!
I thought…
Anyway,I had completed it.
I quitted playing games at that time.
So,I had not played games in such way, from the Nintendo Super Entertainment
System.
But now, I become game creator, should I touch new game machine?
Well, good idea seems to come even in this situation, only from
my brain, if
not play the latest games. And I think it is impossible to feel
a traumatic
effect, such as when I played Mario, Zelda, and Dragon Quest for
the first
time at that time.
Oh! I really want to play only one.
That is...
Picmin (It is not the latest at all. )

I fully understand what you're saying. I used to be addicted to gaming, too. But these days it all has changed. I got addicted to work instead. Everytime I try to really play a game - which means I have to dive "into" it, it simply doesn't work out. I maybe play for a hour maximum, get bored of it and find much more excitement in working on something.
The first game since months to keep me interested and occupied was today with Chronon btw.. I hope you can really make a living with your games. You not only deserve it, but I see it also a bit selfish, as for now, you're on top of my gaming favourites. ;-)
Thanks for entertaining us & keep up the good work!

I think that your ideas are so much more creative than those out today because you don't play a lot of the new games. I write RPGs for the computer, but I think that my ideas are unorigional because I look to other games for inspiration.
Also, I do think that some merchandise might be a good way to make more money. People would definately buy retail versions of your tontie games, as well as the GROW series, and clothing might not be a bad way to make money too (although ordering T-shirts and hats from overseas could be expensive for the non-japanese).
For example, www.HomestarRunner.com is an English flash site which is run by a group, and they make their living off their themed merchandise.

As a game creator you shouldn't limit yourself to electronic games only. Try out board games and card games, I know it sounds lame but the strategies and the fun factor in alot of these games are quite different and can present ideas not previously created. Your grow games are fantastic and I must say that if you devoted your time solely to this (including creation of a retail game with grow) then you'd be highly successful as it seems your creativity is above par.

441 on my first game of Tonite "Game and Watch"! happy with that! love the games!
Posted by: ANDTHEN | December 22, 2005 07:00 AM
The Game & Watch tribute game is great -- such a tight design. Why is this not on the front page for everyone to find?
Everything on Eyezmaze is brilliant, I tip my hat to you Mr. On.
As for Pikmin, I can vouch for it. Pikmin 2 is longer, but the first game has a purer design.

Nice miniGrow u made.

Hi, On! I love all your games. They are so fun, and they look cute too. I think it would be a good idea to make merchandise based on your games. You can make a little more money to keep your site up. I'd totally wear a tontie shirt. Tontie is hard and I can never get past level 20, but it's so addicting! And I can't get enough of your Grow games! I like your new Christmas Grow. It is very cute and gets me in the spirit. Keep up the good work, and Happy Holidays! :)

For more ideas to games like this, you should play Wario Ware touched and Feel the Magic on the DS. Your games remind me a lot of those ^^
I'm really hoping for a new Grow soon! Those are my favorite.

Pikmin is definately a cool game. There's also a Pikmin 2 out that is even better since you're not constrained to a time limit and it has a two player mode! :) It is quite addictive though, so I would recommend working out a time schedule for playing it.

I highly reccomend Pikmin. You should also try Katamari Damacy. It is very enjoyable.

Oh, by the way. Mario Kart DS is awesome. In my opinion it's the better than every other DS game I've played (Kirby Canvas Curse, Meteos, Mr. Driller: Drill Spirits, Pac Pix, Mario 64 DS, and Wario Ware: Touched). I also think it's the best Mario Kart game. It even has the first track from each of the first four cups frome each of the last four Mario Kart games plus 16 new tracks. It also has 8-player wi-fi.
Posted by: Chad | November 27, 2005 10:25 AM
If you play it you'll know why that was a spoiler.
Posted by: Anonymous | November 26, 2005 07:48 PM
(spoilers)
You probably shouldn't try to complete the katamari games because that includes rollin up every object in the game, some of which, you have tomake by getting to certain score ranges in certain stages.

Did you know that on www.littlefluffy.com your Grow is #1 out of 759 different games on the web?
Posted by: Sarah | November 25, 2005 11:25 PM
Cute little Tonties... I love the fact that even in Game B, where the double horned Tonties may stop a random Tontie for a random while, it is physically possible to play (aka, no two Tonties popped up at the same time).
Also, the rate of speeding up is good too. :)
Playing new games do give new ideas, but when you start playing until you get 100,000,000 experience in FF, I don't blame you for not playing any video games.

Here is a better grammared english version (As mentioned by Salem5)
Honestly, I don't usually play games at all. But, like other people, I used to be hooked on them. Once I started a game, it interfered with my everyday activities. I'm basically a kind of Otaku.
I must play everything in a game, and thoroughly master it.
When I had FF5, my exp level was a hundred-millions places at level 99.
A hundred-millions places?
No!
I thought…
Anyway, I had completed it.
I quitted playing games at that time.
So, I have not played games since the Super Nintendo Entertainment
System.
But now, I am game creator, should I play a new game machine?
Well, good ideas seem to come even without modern consoles, they only come from my brain, if not then I will play the latest games. And I think it is impossible to feel a traumatic effect, such as when I played Mario, Zelda, and Dragon Quest for the first time.
Oh! I really want to play Pikmin (It is not the latest I know.)
Fantastic! File size only 12kb! It just needs to be a small file size at this Game & Watch level. I can make it less like 10kb after tidying the data up. How much was the value set for file size restriction in the Game & Watch period?
I've tried to keep it as close to On's original as possible. (There may still be mistakes, and I don't know what 'Otaku' is)
Posted by: Toppot | November 22, 2005 01:16 AM
Nice game^^
I think, as a gamecreator you have to play with lot of different games, not only Videogames.
Posted by: Salem5 | November 21, 2005 11:08 PM
haha, that game and watch style game kept amused for way too long, about 20 minutes. nice job! and also, maybe you should hire a grammar checker (or just get someone here to do it for you) that way the small mistakes could be cut out.

You see, all the great game creators say to play games. Not to rip, but to get an idea what is good. Go on, and try some out. Just don't let them utterly consume your life. Also, Pikmin rocks. PLAY IT! Miyamoto is a perfect role model. :P

I have a couple more recommendations, depending on which type of game you want to play.
If you want a puzzle game:
- Advance Wars
If you want a crazy inventive game:
- Wario Ware Twisted!
If you want an emotional game:
- Shadow Of The Colossus

If I write a long post, do you actually understand it or am I wasting my time? I'm not sure how good your English is (reading and writing skills can be very different).
Posted by: Iestyn | November 13, 2005 04:13 AM
In the Game&Watch period, there was no 'data' and hence no file size - the (very, very simple) logic of the game was burned into the circuitry! The apparent complexity came from the LCD masks which created the 'sprites'.
Pikmin is definitely good, very cute and very memorable. I would also highly recommend Katamari Damacy, which is... indescribable. It will simply make you happy.
It's a shame you don't want to get sucked into a big game again. Mario Sunshine (GameCube, same as Pikmin) was amazing, as were of course the all-time classics Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Zelda: Majora's Mask for the N64.
I agree that it is good to remain isolated to a degree and you are clearly an original thinker, possibly in part because of this, however human minds are great at extracting new ideas from a wide variety of experiences, so feeding your mind can be beneficial too... there's probably a good balance in the middle somewhere.
